Welcome to Australia Zoo's Education Department. We are a small but very dedicated group who are active in fulfilling the Australia Zoo motto, CONSERVATION THROUGH EXCITING EDUCATION. We are committed to taking the message of conservation to the hundreds of groups that come through the Zoo looking to learn more.
Stacey joined the Australia Zoo crew as a Volunteer Coordinator in January 2012 after spending 18 years as an educator specialising in environmental excursion experiences for children.
She enjoys working with volunteers who are excellent people with a passion for helping both animals and people. Her favourite animal at the Zoo are the wombats as they are hardworking, social animals in the wild and they look cool particularly when they walk.
When she is not at work, Stacey spends her time sailing, gardening, reading and cooking. She has had many opportunities to experience Australian native animals in their native locales but there is nothing quite like watching Tooth billed Cat birds prepare their bowers.
Mitch joined the Zoo Crew in May 2015. Having travelled, Mitch has seen some amazing animals including a Bald Eagle, Anteater, Possum, Orca, and Bears in Canada.
Outside of the Zoo, Mitch enjoys the movies, travelling, drawing, road trips, spending time with friends and Architecture.
Megan loves to travel and following many years abroad in Europe, Africa & South America, Megan came back to Australia and joined our zoo crew in October 2003. Megan now meets travellers from all over Australia and the world everyday.
Megan doesn't like to play favourites with our many animals here at the zoo, but she enjoys working with our cheeky wombats.
When not hard at work caring for our gorgeous animals, Megan can be found spending time with her family and she also enjoys camping.
Jackie is long standing member of the zoo crew joining our ranks in September 2002. She worked as a zoo keeper initially, looking after our beautiful native mammals and reptiles. She also worked in the Roving Entertainment Department for many years where she especially enjoyed working with our cheeky wombats and hanging out with our giant tortoises. Education, however, is her real passion. These days she can be found sharing her enthusiasm for animals, conservation and science with students of all ages visiting the zoo. Outside of the zoo Jackie enjoys being a Mum and spending time with her family.
Bronwyn started in the Education Department in September 2014. Having a degree in Environmental science will give Bronwyn the edge in educating all our patrons and School groups as they visit us. Bronwyn has also fallen in love with the Otters Bonnie and Maria because they are so playful and of course cute!!
Outside of the Zoo Bronwyn enjoys bird watching, bush walking.
With thousands of visitors from all over the world passing through the gates daily, all team members understand the importance of making a lasting impression to our patrons. A job at Australia Zoo is more than a vocation, it's a lifestyle - just ask any of our team members. Australia Zoo employees love animals and conservation, have an exceptional self-drive attitude towards work and of course, wear the world famous khaki uniforms with pride! You just have to walk around the Zoo to feel the electricity in the air. The atmosphere creates an exciting experience for all visitors and a dream workplace environment for all employees.
