It's happening again! Kids from all around the world can join Bindi and Robert Irwin to help save wildlife by reading as many books as they can in the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors Readathon. The Wildlife Hospital is in desperate need of a new X-Ray machine and you can help us raise funds by reading a little on the wild side!
The reading frenzy begins on 15 October and extends right up to Steve Irwin Day (15 November), with all money raised going to the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, which treats over 7,500 sick, injured and orphaned native animals every year.
As well as helping our wildlife, Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors fundraising and appeals manager Bridget Chenoweth said there are STACKS of awesome prizes up for grabs for everyone who takes part in the Readathon.
"Raise over $1000 and you'll get an incredible behind-the-scenes tour of the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital with Terri, Bindi and Robert Irwin," Bridget said. "And the top fundraiser will have the wonderful opportunity to be a reporter for the day with the Australia Zoo Crikey! Magazine team!"
Lots of other prizes are on offer too, including tours of Australia Zoo, tortoise encounters, special edition Crocodile Hunter DVD box sets, 12-month subscriptions to Crikey! Magazine, Bindi's books, plush toys, and stacks more.
Kids are encouraged to collect sponsors for their reading efforts, who can choose to donate either per book or per minutes read. The more books you read, the more precious wildlife we can save!
