Recapturing this large male crocodile has provided us with the opportunity to deploy a new satellite tracking prototype. This smaller unit includes solar recharge capacity and allows for more regular GPS fixes. Danny’s GPS unit has already provided more position fixes than we would receive in a 12 month period, as well as recording dive duration and depth data points.
This research is made possible each year with the help of Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors, The University of Queensland and our generous sponsors. This vital program is the longest continuous study of crocodiles in the world and helps us to live alongside them and help them, as a vulnerable Australian species.
