Our Zoo Keeper for a Day programs run during Queensland school holidays, with breaks over the main public holiday periods (e.g. Christmas long weekends).

If you would like to book an Australia Zoo experience for specific dates or celebrations (outside of program dates available), we recommend checking out our animal encounters or personalised tours. Tickets are released in Term 4 for the upcoming year. Additional ZK4D programs may be released throughout the year.

Tickets that are currently available for the Zoo Keeper for a Day programs can be booked here or by calling 07 5436 2071. Additional ZK4D programs may be released throughout the year.

If you are having trouble booking a ticket this could be because:

• The program is sold out for the date you are looking for. Please try another date.
• There is not enough ticket availability remaining on the program you are trying to book (e.g. you may be trying to book 3 tickets and there is only 1 ticket remaining for that program, on that date). Alternative dates may have a higher ticket allocation.
• Programs are not running on the day you have selected. Please be advised the ZK4D programs run during the Queensland school holidays. If you are wishing to book the Khaki Sensory program, this program runs on select term-time weekend dates throughout the year. Please contact education@australiazoo.com.au for further information.

Gift vouchers can also be used against other zoo experiences, should you be unable to secure a Zoo Keeper for a Day ticket.

Our annual passes have their own loyalty program and are a separate ticket to our Zoo Keeper for Day program. Since our Zoo Keeper for a Day experiences are their own standalone experience, discounts for annual pass holders or other special offers do not apply. Khaki Discovery (Ages 7-11) and Khaki Extreme (Ages 12-16)
Zoo admission is included for children participating in the Khaki Discovery and Khaki Extreme ZK4D programs.
Children are welcome to re-enter the zoo after the conclusion of their program with a paying adult (children under the age of 14 are not permitted to explore the zoo unless accompanied by an adult).
Children aged 15 and 16 will need to be signed out of the ZK4D program by their parent or adult caregiver and can then re-enter the zoo, at their parent or adult caregiver’s discretion.

Khaki Explorer (Ages 4-6)
Zoo admission is not included for child participants and their adult supervisors.
Annual pass holders can use their pass to enter the zoo before or after the Zoo Keeper for a Day program as normal. If you and your child would like to enter the zoo outside of your child’s program times, please select the optional admission add-on. This can be added at the time of booking or on the day of your ZK4D Explorer program.

Khaki Sensory (Ages 7+)
Zoo admission is included for participants in the Khaki Sensory ZK4D program.
The participant is welcome to re-enter the zoo after the conclusion of their program. The adult/carer who accompanied the program participant may also re-enter the zoo free of charge, providing the program participant holds a valid companion card.

You are more than welcome to book your child/ren in for additional zoo experiences such as animal encounters, however please be aware that children are generally participating in the Zoo Keeper for a Day programs between the hours of 8:30 – 2:45pm. Participants may meet some of the animals available for encounters throughout the Zoo Keeper for a Day programs, depending on program scheduling. Please keep this in mind when planning your visit to the zoo. Zoo Keeper for a Day program activities are subject to daily zoo operational considerations and animal availability.

Due to Australia Zoo operational considerations, children must participate in the program that correlates with their age. When planning and executing our age-appropriate programs, we consider the length of programs, level of physical demand, style of activities and social experience of all participants.

Yes, you are able to book your children into programs together, providing they are booked into the program that correlates with their age. If you have children with ages ranging across multiple programs and want all your children to attend programs on the same day, we recommend booking them in on a day where multiple programs are running and tickets are available.
If you have children who will be participating in both the Discovery (Ages 7-11) and Extreme (Ages 12-16) program, there are still opportunities for the children to catch up throughout the day, as both programs eat lunch and watch the Wildlife Warriors Show at the same time. Children and their adult supervisors who are participating in the Explorer program (Ages 4-6), can catch up with children on the older programs during the Wildlife Warriors Show, where all Zoo Keeper for a Day program participants sit in a designated area of the Crocoseum.

Due to Australia Zoo operational considerations and in order to ensure the enjoyment of the 4 – 6 year old children booked into the program, we are not able to accommodate any siblings, regardless of age, on our Explorer programs.

Our programs are led by our team of zoo educators, who are experienced in facilitating safe and enjoyable activities for our aspiring zoo keepers. Due to operational considerations, parents are unable to participate, or follow along with, the program. If you would like to catch up with your child during the day, you can drop by during lunch at approximately midday at our Outdoor Learning Centre (near the Crocoseum and Jumping Pillow). You are also welcome to sit near your child who will be seated in our Zoo Keeper for a Day reserved seating area, to watch the Wildlife Warriors Show in the Crocoseum.

Khaki Discovery (Ages 7-11) and Khaki Extreme (Ages 12-16): No, you are not required to remain onsite. However, if you do leave the zoo, we ask that you are contactable during the day and within a reasonable driving distance, so that you are able to return to the zoo if required.

Khaki Explorer (Ages 4-6) and Khaki Sensory (Ages 7+): Yes, 1 adult supervisor is required to attend the program, which is included in the price of the participant’s program ticket.
